Mayan Space by MattiasA Mayan Space by MattiasA
Paging through my art history books I'm struck by the lack of material from the American civilizations, (most of the non western world, to be honset)

great details, i think the reason there is no mayan/south american art to speak of (unless you count their architecture) is because the spanish did a pretty bang up job of wiping them out. either way, great work!

Whoa! :o Love the frame drawings and the design, really has that Mayan feel to it ^_^ All the skulls, the animals and the stone segmentation really works with the spaceship idea :)
I'm delighted to see Mayan culture inspires people from all over the globe :boogie: Thanks for sharing Mattias :D

Mayas not only were great artist and architects, but also made big advances in science, they were pretty advanced for their time.

So that’s where they went! Is it powered by crystal skulls?
Nice touch with the page border.

Very true. I'm working in a book shop at the moment and ordering in the art books and the only book covering early art of the America's I could find was a small paperback world of art series book on the art of the north american indians nothing on South America.

Love the Mayan border. The Mayan were my favorite Indians of all time. I would always win first place in the Science/Social Studies competitions in grade school when I was a kid. I always chose the Mayans as my subject for the competition. Did you see Apocalypto?

I would love to see more of your work on the Mayan Indians.
